The Ferrari shop supplied new parts for me to use on this 355 and in our attempt to remove the valve guides in the normal fashion [heat the head and press the guide out] it became apparent this wasn’t going to work.
We set up to mill the guides out.
The operation went well, only we found one guide bore was not sized the same and so I had to make a “custom” guide to fit with the proper interference.
Guides were installed, reamed, and finished honed to specified size.
After installing the guides, it was discovered the intake guides were not exactly correct in their construction, we had a machined depth collar which puts the guide at the proper installation depth. We normally machine a tool which does this and we used it on the exhaust guides.
Please see the series of three videos which demonstrates how we were able to rectify the issue.
